Since I began my “all we are saying is give peace a chance {john lennon} the edge of the sea is a strange and beautiful place {rachel carson} you are never strong enough that you don’t need help {césar chavez} my only concern was to get home after a hard day’s work {rosa parks} . DECEMBER 2012 — yorkville: river. street. park! New York City has a slew of unique neighborhoods that attract 1000’s of tourists year around: Soho, Harlem, The Lower Eastside, the Theater District and many others. My neighborhood, Yorkville (see sidebar for more) is not one of them. The few tourists that do find their way here are usually stragglers from the museums of Museum Mile or the high-end shops on Madison Avenue... READ ISSUE: HTML version
OCTOBER 2012 — 500 tweets! 10,000 narratives ! Since I began my “career” as the street artist known as @angstville (at the beginning of March 2012) I have completed nearly 500 chalk drawings which I call “Street Tweets.” Over 400 have already been posted on @angstville’s twitter feed or tumblr blog. My goal is to complete 1000 drawings by March of 2013. (Good enough for a Guinness record?) . READ ISSUE: HTML version
AUGUST 2012 — chawkman speaks. At last, the true voice of The Street People will be heard and their tales told — albeit very briefly — before being erased from human memory by time, the rain, and cranky people who don't like Street Artists.. READ ISSUE: HTML version
JUNE 2012 — from yankee to yat: the new orleans work. Oddly enough, one of the best things about my NOLa years is an outgrowth of one of the city’s downsides for creative professionals. It was/is a small market and there was/is not a whole lot of paying, creative work to go around. As a result, in order to make a living one can’t be too much of a specialist, one has to be flexible, and wear many hats. READ ISSUE: HTML version
MAY 2012 — deju vieux carré. That's the whole point of this endeavor: to see The Vieux Carré, The Old Square — more commonly known as The French Quarter — with new eyes, once again, for the first time, every visit, every year. After all these years of living, working and playing in the Quarter I think I probably know her inside and out. READ ISSUE: HTML version
APRIL 2012 — the angstville chronicles. Ironic? Post-modern? Non-linear? Am I serious? To be quite honest I’m not entirely sure myself! I started this "Genre" with some stream of consciousness drawings and text in a sketchbook about a year ago and the whole thing, including the "Street Tweets," just sort of fell into place. MARCH 2012 — come ona my house my house. What’s the point of stuff anyway — other than the very anal act of accumulation? Freud would trace it all back to toilet training, depending on the rigors of which, one turns out either to be the type of person who likes to save their, well, s--t, and those who want to dispose of it as quickly as possible. You can easily figure out which type I am. READ ISSUE: HTML version
FEBRUARY 2012 — quotations from chairman mitt. A re"Corporations are people, my friend… of course they are. Everything corporations earn ultimately goes to the people. Where do you think it goes? Whose pockets? Whose pockets? People's pockets. Human beings, my friend."—Mitt Romney to a heckler at the Iowa State Fair who suggested that taxes should be raised on corporations as part of balancing the budget (August 2011). JANUARY 2012 — rolf myller's erocktica A really fun assignment for me, as well as an interesting change of pace, was the opportunity to photograph and design Rolf Myller's EROCKTICA — a book picturing 185-plus miniature masterpieces of erotic art painted on stones of every shape and texture from smooth to rough, perfectly reflecting the myriad forms and emotions of human sexuality. DECEMBER 2011 — the ebony hillbillies live at lincoln center. WHEN Traversing the subway system of New York City, you're likely to encounter all kinds of curiosities; but one thing that's going to inspire a double take, even among the most jaded city dwellers, is the Ebony Hillbillies. You'll hear them before you see them, the haunting sounds of banjo, fiddle, and washboard drifting down the hallways over the constant hum of rushing trains. . READ ISSUE: HTML version

OCTOBER 2011 — offferings for the dead "If at the cemetery there be any unusual delay in burying the dead, caused by any unlooked for circumstances, such as the tomb proving too small to admit the coffin, it is a sign that the deceased is selecting a companion from among those present, and one of the mourners must soon die."
